ARCHITECT TURNED IAS OFFICER

Am I stuck to architecture? Can I divert to some other field? How can I pursue some other profession as my subjects are so different from regular streams’ subjects? These are some of the many questions that start flooding your mind as you get closer to your graduation. Friends! in architecture, students are taught not only technical subjects but also subjects related to humanities. So students of architecture are exposed to a wide spectrum of subjects. This exposure gives them a chance to go for civil services examination conducted by UPSC. One recent example of an architect cracking this examination is Aparna Ramesh.

Aparna Ramesh, a professional architect, is now  a 2020 batch IAS officer. Her achievement clearly shows that students of architecture have many avenues open to them. They can follow their dreams and explore innumerable paths.

To give her brief background, she did her graduation in Architecture from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur in 2015 and post graduation from CEPT, Ahmedabad in 2019. In 2020, she was selected for ‘India Smart Cities Fellowship’ by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.
